My strategy
Why mistakes are good
Mistakes are an important part of language learning because they demonstrate you have a supportive learning environment and a willingness to learn. Making mistakes is the only way that you can learn and gain the confidence necessary to successfully speak English!
6 keys to success
-
Children learn languages quicker because they don’t care about making mistakes. As a language learner myself, I understand the embarrassment that can come with making mistakes; however, they are very important for improving your language skills. In our lessons, mistakes will be encouraged and viewed as signs of success, not something to be embarrassed about.
-
Immersion works even for complete beginners. By combining speaking and writing, I teach basic sentence structure and meaning without needing prior English knowledge. Students who embrace immersion will start speaking English much faster than those who rely on their native language.
-
Language is all about words. While English sentence structure is important, more complex grammar is meaningless without enough vocabulary to support it. Most grammar will develop naturally as you acquire more words, just like you did when you learned your native language!
-
Reading, even at the beginner level, is a great way to improve vocabulary and develop a feel for English. For more advanced students, reading is a great way to push through the B1 plateau that so many students face. I offer vocabulary reading guides to help you learn at your own pace!
-
Learning English through engaging conversations and topics that interest you is one of the most effective ways to learn new vocabulary. This personalized, one-on-one approach is far more valuable than a traditional classroom setting, where topics may not align with your passions or interests.
-
While English has 26 letters, American English uses around 43 distinct sounds! Pronunciation can be difficult in English. By identifying new sounds in English, we will begin using tongue twisters, guided reading, and shadowing to develop these new sounds so you will be better understood!
Hi, I’m Hank!
Here’s How i became an English teacher, and why I want to help you achieve your goals!
After graduating from Northeastern University, I completed a 120-hour TEFL course with the International TEFL Academy and moved to Germany to become an English language teacher. It was then that I truly discovered my passion for teaching.
Despite having no prior German knowledge, I reached a conversational level in under one year by implementing effective language learning techniques. Using these strategies, I’ve helped students improve in all four language areas: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. This success has deepened my motivation to help English language learners because I know what works and what doesn’t.
Having helped so many amazing students, I am extremely motivated to help you achieve your English learning goals! Book a trial lesson and begin your language learning journey with me!
